GOOD NEWS!!!

I received GREAT news today!!  I don't really want to share it just yet, but I'm pretty ecstatic for what this Fall will bring.  I was ready to give up hope and think that things weren't going to come together before the deadline....but it did!!!

I can't wait for this new (and somewhat familiar) adventure!!!

New Adventure!

The week my aunt passed away, I found out there was a position opening up in our Eviction department. My mind was a little scattered the day I returned back to work, but I submitted my cover letter and resume to HR. Later that day, I was invited to interview the next day. HR told me I could still dress down since it was Friday. So I did...
I'm not gonna lie, I was a little nervous when I showed up to work the next day wearing jeans and my new bear shoes while my cubicle mate actually looked like she was going to an interview! (Which she was, also! It was a lil odd to be going up for the same job against my team member and cube mate.)
My interview was first and I've gotta say, I felt great about it! I had them laughing and seriously asking great find out questions. It felt less like an interview because our discussion/conversation led right to the next question they had for me....or somehow I'd answer the next question before it was even asked. Probably the easiest and best interview I ever had! I felt good about it!
And it paid off! I GOT THE JOB!!
Yesterday, I was emailing one of the ladies from my new department regarding a case. She later congratulated me, then sent me the following email:
When we found out it was you….. we were all very excited.. you are such the perfect fit! When I found out that you interviewed, I kept telling my boss that you would be the best fit for this position! We all did! You’ll be fine!
Just reading that made ne even more excited!!
And my soon to be new cube mate sent me this: Super excited to be working together!!
I've only heard the nicest and greatest things about my new department and manager. This makes me less nervous and even more excited. I'm not gonna lie, I'll probably feel a lil overwhelmed having attorneys all around me, all the time. I'm sure I'll get used to it. I'm stoked that my bigger cube has a window about 10 feet away. This makes me happy. There are so many things that make me excited for this new change. New adventures are on the horizon!

Officially Mrs. B!

Yesterday, I finally changed my last name over to my married name. I was anticipating a long, dreadful process. Plus, sometimes, I have a hard time with change.  These two factors added up to taking 8.5 months to make this change.
I started off with the local Social Security office, which was fast & easy. In and out in less than 10 minutes! Then I tried the DMV, FOUR TIMES!!! Oh man...never again am I going to the DMV without an appointment!!  After the SS offfice, I drove by and saw a long line out the door.  I decided to go by Target to get some allergy medicine and kill some time.  When I went back after Target, the line was ever longer.  I decided to go by Michael's & Joann's to check out their sales on scrapbooking items.  After that, I went back by the DMV and the line was gone! I walked in, got my number (G166) and sat for 30 minutes (they were barely on G120). I finally turned to the lady next to me and she said that she had been waiting for 2.5 hours! TWO AND A HALF HOURS!!! HECK NO!! I decided I'd go grab lunch and run home for a quick bit.  When I made it back to the DMV, they were on G169!! Oh man, I was so mad, frustrated and bummed!!! I knew I should have gone to the DMV the next day (today) as I had originally planned!
Luckily, Levi said that it was a momentous occasion and we needed to celebrate.  His happiness made me happy that I finally made this change! Off we went to The Cheesecake Factory! It was our first time there and we were lucky to have gift cards to use! Even better!! :) It was a fun dinner!  It's always so nice to try something new w/ him! We love our adventures, big & small!

This morning, I was able to finish up the name change process. I got up early to get over to the DMV.  It only took an hour and a half.  Then headed over to finish off the rest of the name change stuff.  It's kinda trippy.  I'm not gonna lie, after I walked out of the SS office yesterday and saw it on paper, it hit me pretty hard.  I was excited, happy, sad, nervous, ecstatic, etc.  I was feeling all kinds of emotions.  Sharing the same last name as my husband, makes me feel more united with him.  Part of me feels like I'm leaving my family and an old life.  It's a lil tough to not share the same last name as my parents now, but that's what comes with growing up & moving forward in life.  I'll tell you one thing, man, I need to practice my new signature.  Now I'm officially a Mrs.! I mean, I have been since August, but now I'm really Mrs. B!  I have a wallet full of cards that can prove it too! Trippy!! But exciting, oh so exciting!!

A new adventure on the horizon!

The day after tomorrow, I start my new job! I'm way stoked!  Two weeks ago, my General Manager said that the CEO wanted him to make some cuts, and sadly, I was one of them.  I thoroughly enjoyed working with them, but knew that it wouldn't go on forever.  Luckily, the next morning I found a job posting on Craigslist (I have such good luck finding the greatest "finds" on there!) sent in my cover letter, along with my resume and heard from them that very afternoon!  I was surprised!! I had an interview that next afternoon, and was told I would maybe hear back from them by next Wednesday.  As I was out shopping with Levi, Monday afternoon, my phone rang and they were asking me back for a second interview!  The next day I showed up and met with the department head......oh man, I was way nervous!!  That was a Tuesday, and I was told that my background check would take about 3-5 days.  However, I received a copy of my background check the next afternoon, so I figured I'd probably hear back from them by Friday....or at least I was hoping to!  Friday came and still nothing.....the next day was Eidde's wedding and I wanted to be able to enjoy the weekend!  I was a lil worried and even expressed my hopelessness to Levi.  As I was cleaning out my closet at my parents', my phone rang and it was the HR from the law firm.  She didn't sound too cheery, so I thought I didn't get it....til I suddenly heard, "We would like to extend the offer of the position...." and I was in like Flynn!  I was so stoked!!  I just had to call Levi to share the good news!  I'm way stoked!  Work will be about 12 minutes away and I even got offered the higher pay!  I'm way stoked to have luxury of medical, vision, & dental benefits again, as well as 401K and PTO/Sick time, after one month!  With all the great things this job has to offer, I'm a lil nervous cause I'm definitely going to need to hit the ground running!  EEEKKK!!! But I can do it! I've got this!
I'm just so happy with all that this job will bring.  I'm so grateful for this awesome blessing!  I'm grateful to a Heavenly Father who is ALWAYS aware of my needs, wants & desires and blesses me accordingly.  I can't help but get choked up in the thought of the specific blessings I receive.  My heart is ever so grateful. ♥
