"Age appropriate" clothes?

Tonight, I was reading the newspaper, skimming over store ads and "window shopping" online.  I started to think about stuff I wear and how I wish I could/would dress.  I know I'm 31 year old (man, I still don't like saying that aloud :( )  and I don't think, feel or act like a 31 year old....maybe I look like it? Gosh, I hope not... maybe I really should start wearing SPF +1000 on my face?
Well anyways, back to my point... 
In my ideal world, I would wear:

With jeans, cute cardigans and accessories, of course!  You know, so I don't look like I'm 15 or something.  


**I guess I posted this for more reasons than one.... I'm kinda not the best dresser. I'm either too casual or too over the top.   I wish I could live in board shorts, hoodie sweaters and Reef slippers--but I can't, as much as I'd like to think I can, living in San Diego.  I just wish I was one of those "cutesy" type of dressers.... *sigh* someday.... :)

38 minutes ago I received the call....the one I had been hoping for!

I WAS INVITED TO THE DEBUTANTE BALL AT THE HOTEL DEL CORONADO!!!!

Exciting, right?!?

But it's not Saturday, as I first thought...

It's TOMORROW NIGHT!!! AT 6 PM!!!! AND IT'S FORMAL!!!! FORMAL!!!!

I don't own anything that's formal enough for the Hotel Del! PLUS, I don't know how to do a formal hair do!!! AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Right now I wish I was my best friend StephyPooh. She can do formal in 2.2 minutes flat! She can go from plain (well, she's not plain to begin with) to gorgeous in mere seconds!! For me, it's a process...a long, thought out process!!! I'm googling photos for "formal hairstyles for curly hair" and I'm coming up short!! My friend told me that my formal dress has to be long....LONG!! Where in the world am I going to find a long plus-size/size 18 formal dress? And accessories? And shoes? And a hair style?? UGH!! I need to look FABULOUS people...we're talkin' the Hotel Del here!!! Oh man......

She even said I could bring up a date. A DATE?!?! I can't even find something to wear, how am I going to find a formal man by tomorrow night? I mean, if it was on Saturday then I would TOTALLY ask Mr. NY....but I don't have someone who can bust out with formal in a blink of an eye!! Plus I'll have to wear make up too....OH DEAR?!?!!

My name is Ehu and I'm a Clothes-aholic.

This past Saturday, from 10am til midnight, I was cleaning my room and doing laundry.

I did about 6 loads of laundry with about 4 more loads awaiting me (while still having clothes in my closet & drawers).

I'm serious. Dead serious. I own that many clothes. I never knew it....

THIS IS BAD, REALLY BAD!

They all fit too. And I do wear them pretty often*. So it's not like it's stuff that I could easily (aka: "willingly") give to a thrift store. [Let me define, "often": When it finally rotates its way to the top of a pile, drawer or closet]

I was thinking of doing a little experiment: Wear all of my clothes, once....and see how long it would take me to go through EVERYTHING I own, before wearing them again.

I give it 4-5 months. We'll see....

I think...

...there should be a law banning the use of horizontal stripes on plus size clothing.

It's just not that flattering.

(yet, I bought the stupid shirt anyways)
