Goals: Before & During 2012!

As I was lying awake in my bed at 3am, this morning, I started to think of some of the things I would like to accomplish before 2012 and during 2012.  Just so I can reflect back on it, I thought I'd post it here.

BEFORE 2012: (so basically, within the next 29 days--TOTALLY doable!)
  • Watch Inception.
  • Go to the top of the Hyatt hotel.  (It's 40 floors up and has a beautiful view of SD...from what I hear)
  • Eat Pho.
  • Read another book.
  • Eat at Bronx Pizza.
I really want to do all of those before 2012.  Luckily, Mr. Red just bought the Blu-ray version of Inception off of Amazon, so that goal will be completed soon. When my nephew, Bub/Kea, comes to visit we'll FINALLY go eat at Bronx. As for the others... I'm thinking of asking Oeste out to either Pho or the Hyatt..or both? :) We'll see.

DURING 2012: My "12 in 12" goals! (It's still a work in progress, this is what I have so far)
  1. Visit Maui.
  2. Get my passport.
  3. Pursue a relationship.
  4. See my best friend StephyPooh & Britty.
  5. Finish Les Miserables.
  6. Find out what's so great about running/jogging {by doing it myself...pray for me.}
So that's where I'm at, so far......  I'm really stoked for these goals.  I love the sense of accomplishment! Besides, it's good to work towards something...that's the point to this life, right? :) Good luck to me!

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y NIGHT!!

First things first--
CONGRATULATIONS to STEPHYPOOH & her family.... she gave birth to such a CUTE baby girl!!  If ever I thought something/someone was 'cute as a button', this baby would certainly be it!!!  She's so darling cute!! I want one!!

So a new semester has started.... I'm SO excited!! It's so awesome!! I'm looking forward to meeting so many new people!!!  I'm doing it online with BYU-Idaho.  The cool thing this semester is that it's now opened up to other online students across the U.S. .  It's great reading responses from others who are striving to gain a higher education and also happen to have the same/similar religious beliefs.  It's awesome! I'm so stoked!!!  You have no idea!!

My friend Em & I are singing in church tomorrow.  I perfectly at ease with the song, which makes me nervous because I should feel some nervousness about it, right?  I mean, it's an easy song....which makes me feel nervous because I don't feel nervous.  Does that even make sense?  I hope something lame doesn't happen to me, like my voice cracking or something.

The part of me that IS nervous is the fact that I'll be playing the organ in front of one of the sisters from the stake that is plays it so perfectly.  I ALWAYS get nervous playing the organ/piano or even singing in front of her....which isn't good since she's our accompanist tomorrow.  AAAAHHHHHH!!

So I guess I am nervous after all.

I'm glad it's Easter tomorrow.  I need to remember the reason for the season.

p.s. I'm in love with Spinach, Red Beets, & Mushroom salads!!! (with Ranch dressing) Oh man, I LOVE Souplantation!!

4/20 BABY!!!

Today is my very dear & best friend's birthday!!
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPHYPOOH!!!
She is an amazing friend! So thoughtful and caring! I couldn't have asked for a better friend and missionary companion!!
I love her dearly!! I'm stoked at the arrival of her newest baby!! I can't wait to see & meet her new lil family!!

Other than that.... I made the BEST Egg, Sausage & Cheese Strata (Quiche?) tonight for dinner. I was in the mood for breakfast for dinner.  Also made Cheesy potatoes & Strawberry pancakes [made with cake mix, so they were more like crepes]!! Oh man, it was all very very DELICIOUS!!!!  I'm not gonna lie... I had 3 helpings of the Egg strata!!!  I ate like it was Thanksgiving.

Can I say I was celebrating my best friend's birthday and eating for two?

Or I guess three, since she's pregnant.

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPH!!

Today is my bestest friend, Stephanie’s birthday.

I think she’s one of the most kindest, most wonderful and heart touching people I have ever met in my life. I couldn’t be more grateful for the friendship I share with her. Today, I thought I would do a birthday dedication to her.

I met Stephanie (then ‘Sister Cobb’) on Wednesday, July 24, 2002 in Provo, Utah at the Missionary Training Center (MTC). It was our very first day as missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

After saying goodbye to my parents and receiving papers on end about the MTC, I headed up to the room I would be sharing with 3 other sister missionaries. Things they left out of the introductory meeting--4 floors and no elevators at all. NICE-REAL NICE!! I opened the door to walk in the room, and there was a sister missionary sitting on a chair in the middle of the room, facing the door wearing a lavender blouse with perfect hair and looking like she grew up on the affluent side of the tracks. In the first millisecond of stepping into the room, I judged her, pretty harshly. I thought to myself “Oh great, this chick and I are gonna be throwin’ down. I can just see it already. SNOB!” Wow, startin’ off life GREAT as a missionary, right? WRONG!!
The next thing I knew she perks up, with big bright blue eyes and a grin from ear to ear and says to me, “HI! I’m Sister Cobb! Nice to meet you!! Where’s your stuff? Let’s go get your luggage!”. Behind her she had already unpacked her suitcases and set up her desk. Not even able to catch my breath from the 4 flights of stairs, we head back down. To myself I kept thinking, “Is this chick for reals?” Non stop talking, perky as can be. We get my 3 large suitcases and scripture bag. UP the stairs we go. I finally had to stop--it was summer, hot and in the desert…oh and did I mention 4 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS?!?! I get up to the room a minute after her and sit down. Next thing I know my own companion comes walking thru the door…and what do I hear? “HI!! I’m Sister Cobb, this is Sister Lomu! Nice to meet you!! Do you need help? We’ll help you with your stuff! Let’s go get it!” WHAT?? I don’t remember volunteering!?? Are you kidding me?? Down we go….
About a half hour later we’re all unpacking and me-still trying to catch my breath…when the door opens and Sister Cobb, not missing a beat says “HI! I’m Sister Cobb! This is Sister Hansen and Sister Lomu! Where’s your stuff?? I’m really tired, but we’ll all go down and help you with your stuff!!” ARE YOU KIDDIN ME?!?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! But we went anyways. That has always been one of my favorite mission memories, of how I met Sister Cobb. Here I had judged her, when in fact she was quite the extreme opposite of what I would have expected.

Most fortunately I had the wonderful opportunity to serve 4 months of my mission with her in New Jersey. Those were the greatest 4 months of my mission and life. While with her, I experienced a car accident, roach infestation in our apartment (thanks to our neighbors!) and a 2am fire…and in the end she was always the calm and sensible one. She’s so willing to give everything she has and then some. She smiles and gives hope when the rest of the world wants you to give up. She’s listened to me bare the deepest parts of my soul and never judged. She truly has a heart of gold. Jokingly, we made a pact that when we had kids that if I had girls I would send them to her for her to raise because she’s so feminine, gentle and heart sensitive -unlike myself…and I would raise her boys because I like to rough house and do all the crazy boy stuff. If & when I have daughters, I wouldn’t mind at all if they grew up wanting to be like her…I know I do. She’s positive in the bleakest of times, generous in immeasurable amount and pleasant to those that are ill-mannered towards her. I’ve learned so much from her. I can only hope that someday in this lifetime I can possess half of her qualities. She truly has a heart of gold and I am blessed beyond measure to call her my friend.

Happy Happy Birthday Stephanie!!
